Families of NCCS: The Rawls Family
When it came time for Bailee’s parents to choose a school, they knew the decision would shape her future. With this being their first child, they were determined to find a place where she could thrive academically, grow socially, and feel genuinely cared for. After considering several options, including private schools and other charters, Nashville Classical stood out.
“She’s our only child, and that can be scary,” Bailee’s mom shared. “The idea that their focus would be solely on her as a new school gave me ease with my baby making that transition.”
Their journey began with curiosity and a bit of uncertainty. The family was familiar with the East location through their relationships with some of our founding families, but wanted to exhaust all their options and feel truly informed in their decision. Bailee’s dad recalled first learning about the school’s west campus: “When I heard they were building out the West location, I thought, this could be something special. I actually went to that building when it was Brookmeade, so it already felt familiar.”
For Bailee’s parents, finding the right environment was key. They wanted a school that didn’t just meet expectations but surpassed them.
“We wanted her in an environment where she could thrive, be understood, and also be pushed to excel,” her dad explained. “Allowing her to be herself was so important to us.”
They were drawn to Nashville Classical’s approach, which balances structure with a warm, scholar-centered atmosphere. “We looked at other schools, but they felt a little militant, like kids weren’t able to be kids. We didn’t get that feeling from Nashville Classical,” her mom said.
The personal connection with staff sealed the deal. “The biggest thing was understanding Mrs. Lambert’s vision for the school,” Bailee’s dad shared. “Even through some of the hurdles of establishing a new school, the communication was extremely open. That personal connection sold it for me.”
Now, as part of the Nashville Classical community, Bailee is thriving. “She loves her friends, her teachers, and her classmates,” her dad said. “The school pours into her, and it’s not just about our kid – it’s about all the kids growing and excelling. That’s just as important.”
For Bailee’s mom, seeing her daughter’s growth has confirmed their choice. “She’s so, so smart, and we want her to put that on display in school and in any setting.
At Nashville Classical, she’s found her place.”
Their story is one of trust, hope, and partnership—values that continue to define Nashville Classical. Families like theirs remind us why we do what we do every day. Our West campus wouldn’t be the same without Bailee and her family, and we are consistently grateful for the contribution and commitment our families make. We’re here because they choose us.
